Linda Robertson Gaines
My name is Linda Robertson Gaines. (The Copper Daisy) I have been creating out of necessity most of my life. After retiring from nursing I tried my hand at charcoal and displayed at the MAC for the production of “Chicago”. For the next 3 years,I restarted and maintain the Visual Arts at the MAC.I dabble in paint. pencil and charcoal sketches but my love is metal. I recycled items and recreate them. It brings me joy to see my art bring smiles and laughter. My work starts with a single item that “speaks” to me and a sculpture emerges, there is still life in recycled and unwanted items.
My biggest influence is my husband ,Joey, who watched over me and encouraged me on to the next level. I also credit Doug Spangler, who saw something in my work and gave me an avenue in which to express not only my work but the work of other local artists such as Bill Nickles, Noel Clements and Mutt Suttles fantastic artists as well as mentors to the arts.
Thank you for allowing me to share my art with you today.
