Gary Barton

A Life Through the Lens

Gary Barton, a professional photographer with a career spanning 35 years, has made a significant mark in the world of photography. His journey began with an education in commercial and photographic arts at Daytona Beach Community College, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion and profession.

For two decades, Gary served as a base photographer at Arnold Engineering Development Center, where his exceptional work earned him numerous awards, including international accolades and publications in Air Force journals. His tenure at the center was marked by a dedication to capturing the essence of military life and operations.

Beyond his work at the base, Gary owned and operated a full-service professional studio. There, he had the unique opportunity to photograph some of country music’s biggest stars, including Johnny and June Cash, the Oak Ridge Boys and the Mandrell sisters. His studio also became a cherished venue for capturing weddings and special events, where his keen eye for detail and emotion shone through.

Gary’s true passion lies in nature and landscape photography. He has spent years documenting hundreds of barns across middle Tennessee, driven by a desire to preserve their history before they vanish. His goal is to compile these images into a book, showcasing the rustic beauty and historical significance of these structures.

Gary’s love for art is evident in his approach to photography. He finds inspiration in everyday scenes around him. God’s beauty is all around us if we just take time to look.

Gary’s work can be viewed on Facebook, where he continues to share his stunning images with a broader audience, inspiring others to see the world through his lens.
